Following on from a previous post I did on 'finding an agent', writer Dean Crawford sent me this link to an interview conducted with Agent of the Year Luigi Bonomi of LBA Literary Agency - this is what Luigi has to say on the subject

Love the candid way he just says it as it is. Thanks for the link Matt (& 'A Reader').
Notice a certain unnamed author gets a mention - wonder who that was then... :)
HE WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED says thanks ;-)
Excellent - straight from the horse's mouth! Thanks for posting this, Matt, it made for interesting and informative reading!
BTW - Hi Col, you're alive and well, then?
Any more news on the TK&C front, you guys? Not hassling, mind, just interested. :-)
Soon...sooooonnnn...
It's great to see how Luigi Bonomi can set the record straight in such a short piece, and it really emphasises how much publishing is a business. Once the creative side is done, the author must be prepared to be good at everything in order to maximise his or hers publishing success.
Nice that he also shows how, despite the staggering odds, good first novelists do get through :o)
Sue,
I'll be back soon. You can't get rid of me that easily. :)
Dean,
I take it you are 'A Reader'?
Good luck with your writing BTW. Wonder where you'll be submitting it? :)
Thanks Col, and 'A Reader' I am... :o)
He's right, it's hellish tough to get an agent. It's ultimately worth it though, as going to a publisher without will lose you an advance, as well as only ever get you a single book deal.
Matt, lend us a fiver?
