"Jack Reacher Could Have Some Worthy Competition." I'll say! Congrats Matt and all the best mate.

I used to love the Reacher books, but had a gap to read 'British' crime fiction.

When I returned to Lee Child's creation I found the short sentences and convoluted plots a tad irritating. Not to say I don't enjoy them, but Reacher's starting to come across as a bit of a know-all superhero.

I much prefer Joe Hunter - he has flaws that make him more human - and more believable, IMHO.

(and besides, I've actually met his creator, unlike Reacher's! ;-p)

"All the way from British Cumbriashire in England, an author making big shakes, mainly in the boots of Lee Child, myself Conan O'Brian is sure happy to welcome onto The Tonight Show, Matt Hilton."

Yup, envisioning it now.

Well done, fella. So when's the tour of America, Matt?

Nice work fella. That's actually the cover i've got on my copy of DMD, as i got it from LBA and it's the pre-publish addition (check me out!). Here's hoping that sales rocket for you, as i'm sure they will...

Thanks all you good people.

Hopefully the paperback edition will help spread the word in America. Up until now, it tends to have only been specialist collecters/readers who've had the pleasure of Joe Hunter's first adventure. So I've got my fingers crossed for big things across the pond.

Hey, Sue, I've had the pleasure of meeting Lee Child and he's a great and open guy, and I think you'd enjoy meeting him, too.

Paul, you must have got one of the early US ARC's did you? Still subtle differences in the cover if you look closely - like where has the pick-up gone?

I'll have a look when i unpack all my books, they're still in boxes from moving. I guess it was one of the early ones, but i got it last March when i first started my dalliance with LBA and they wanted me to read the genre i write. I'm so glad they did, or i probably never would have met such a fine group of people!

Strange how things pan out, isn't it?
